About Me
Amazed how lucky I am that I have had jobs where I could just think about whatever I wanted to think about. This summer I will be moving to the University of Maryland. Previously I held positions at the University of Chicago, Yale University, Stanford, UCLA, Wharton, and Rice and was the chief economist at the United States Sentencing Commission during 1988 and 1989. I have published over 90 articles in academic journals. I received my Ph.D. in economics from UCLA in 1984.

4 Comments:
Here in the Evil Empire State, where a judge may deny a carry license on a whim, and automatically restrict it to "hunting and target shooting" if he does issue it, it is extremely unlikely that we will have "Shall Issue" any time soon. Instead, we have on the horizon the prospect of anti-gun Eliot Spitzer as Governor.
New York State Civil Rights Law states: "The right of the people to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed."
We have rights in this state like Russian citizens had rights in the USSR.
New Yorkers have consistently demonstrated the lack of spine required to responsibly manage their state/local/municipal government.

Part of the blame goes to a gun-phobic newsmedia that brainwashes the N.Y. city proletariat. And, I would bet, members of the media take clues on guns from law enforcement who write to them and politicians to keep guns banned. Citizens of New York are up against a powerful never-ending barrage of anti-gun rhetoric.
