Diana Irey for Congress, Running Against John Murtha
Additional info:
Rep. John Murtha, responding Wednesday to a defamation lawsuit filed by a Marine accused of killing Iraqi civilians in 2005, mistakenly said Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich had been "charged in the incident at Haditha." In fact, no charges have been filed against anybody.
Murtha quickly issued a new press release Wednesday deleting "charged" and describing Wuterich as leader of "the squad accused of killing two dozen civilians." The lawsuit accused Murtha of spreading "false and malicious lies" about the sergeant in his May 19 statement which said Marines "killed a number of civilians without anybody firing at them."
Although Murtha has carried his western Pennsylvania district by landslide margins and was unopposed in 2004, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry won it with only 51 percent. Diana Irey, a Republican county commissioner, is waging a vigorous campaign, and last week accused Murtha of "regular and willful misstatements of key facts."
UPDATE: Here is an interview that Irey had on Hannity & Colmes

Wasn't this the only politician insisting we leave Hell's nest - no, he will be forgotten as the one who warned us early on; others, like Hillary Clinton who insisted we stay the course, while Murtha demanded we leave, will now say, as if she always opposed the foray, it was a big republican disaster. But the truth is it is both a republican and a democrat disaster. Who is John Murtha ? And who would care if he loses or wins?
It may not bother you, but I have found his claims (that have later appeared to be false) about attrocities by American soldiers quite disturbing. I think that he is putting politics above what makes the best policy.
here is a link to another superbly written essay about war by Lew Rockwell...

to learn what soldiers do during war read his essay 'The Glory of War'
Murtha is a reliable witness on Iraq (he served in Viet Nam.)
While I appreciate Murtha's service to the country, I don't think that he has been a very accurate witness in this conflict. What direct evidence do you have that he was accurate in discussing the civilian attacks by the US troops? I need something other than the fact that he was a Vietnam veteran.
Are not Marines now in custody, and some who are not, facing trial for murder and rape in Iraq; several soldiers have already been convicted and are now serving time for prisoner abuse in Iraq which included sex abuse ?
Can you believe Hillary Clinton!! Bashing Rumsfield for the rediculous foray into Iraq. Does this woman suffer from memory lost? Don't blame Rumsfield for anythng - blame Bush and a terrified congress (including Clinton) for giving Bush a holy crusade blank check. War supporters are still hopeful - they wait for a miracle?
How to spell Me Lie ? Mai Ly ? As in viet nam massacre where dead women and children were stacked up in piles. As if US military atrocity were always non-existent. We can do no wrong, we are always right and they are the barbarians; and whatever our troops do (on foreign soil) must be right and justifiable.

We are talking about Murtha's claim about Haditha, probably by far the most explosive charge about Americans hurting Iraqis. For example, see:

I remember listening to the news when the commandant of the marine corps was issuing a statement (saying he was visiting Iraq) warning marines about killing innocent women and children in Iraq...
what do you think happens in guerilla warfare in cities? (guerillas convert to yoga)
"Last month, the Marine Corps relieved Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani of command of the 3rd Battalion. Two of his company commanders were relieved of their commands, as well. Authorities said a series of unspecified incidents had led to a loss of confidence in the three." [Washington Post]
