"Ryan O'Neal: I Fired Gun in Self-Defense"
This is quite a different take than the news stories that I had seen thus far.
O'Neal's son Griffin, 42, who has a history of alcohol and drug problems, was visiting the Malibu house. O'Neal said Griffin grabbed a fireplace poker and started swinging it, grazing him four or five times.
He "aimed at my head, I ducked, he hit his own girlfriend in the head," O'Neal, 65, told the newspaper.
"I got a little nervous at that point and fled to my room ... and I got my gun," he said.
O'Neal said his son began to come up the stairs with the poker. "So I just fired it into the banister, and that scared him and he fled," he said. . . . .

Good for Ryan O'Neal, did what he had to do and protected himself. End of story.

Isn't this actor one of those Hollywood know it all types that think gun owners are just slavering murdering dimwits just begging for an oportunity to gun down an innocent victim????
HOW IN THE WORLD can this be self defense? He obviously bought the gun to shoot someone with! It's premeditated MURDER isn't it????
Okay, everyone quit growling at me, personally I would remind Mr. Ryan O'Neil that shot placement is required for self defense and he needs practice, a lot of it.
