New Op-ed: "Giuliani Bobs and Weaves on Gun Control Record"
Some media suggested an even more lofty goal: "it is possible that the NRA would endorse Giuliani."
Surely Giuliani said many comforting things. He talked about the Second Amendment protecting individual rights. And he now disavows the lawsuits against the gun makers-- something that he himself initiated, but that he says went off course and went in directions with which he disagreed.

Dear Dr. Lott:
Bobbing and weaving indeed. If Mr. Guliani really supported the Second Amendment, no bobbing and weaving would be necessary, would it?
His refusal to rule out an "assault weapon" ban is interesting in that we know, and presumably he knows, that there is no such thing and that the legitimate semiautomatic firearms swept up in such idiotic bans are very rarely used illegally. Perhaps most telling is his continual linkage of gun control and crime control. As you have consistently proved, no such linkage exists, and making that link has been, until Guliani's prevarications, the exclusive province of anti-gun forces.
Come to think of it, it still is.
How about a less lofty goal: Rudy wants to get nominated.
