Church Shooting was Stopped by Armed Security (Correction: "Armed Volunteer")
The gunman in the shootings at the New Life Church was shot and killed by a church security guard, Colorado Springs police chief Richard Myers said. . . . .
I have been traveling to Canada today and I don't know much else about what has happened with the other shooting.
Thanks to Andrew Breitbart letting me know about this.

Apparently the "armed guard" was a church member who volunteered to serve as security.
I would love to see you (or somebody) compile, (and publish at this site!) a simple list of mass shootings/ intended mass shootings that have taken place in the United States since a certain date, and include two points of data: 1) what percentage of these occurred in a "gun-free zone", and 2) at what percentage of these did an armed citizen or off-duty cop wielding a personal weapon reduce the damage done, by either forcing a full stop, or simply by keeping the gunman pinned down until on-duty police could arrive...
Good that this man stepped up. Sounds like the disaster could've been much worse.
"...they found that a church security guard had shot the gunman and that SHE probably saved many lives." Good for her!
I wonder if she was really just a volunteer/church member with a CCW permit, and the media is failing to report it... as they failed to report the "Gun Free Zone" at the Omaha mall?
Either way, good for her (and the church) for being prepared to stand up against evil.

P.S. to John, you may already link this, but here's a site that keeps up with gun events http://www.claytoncramer.com/gundefenseblog/blogger.html
Thanks, Dr. John. Not exactly what I'd love to see, but you're still da man! :-)
If this incident doesn't provide proof positive that institutions need CCW people on campus, I don't know what will. After a long wait, I'm ready to make the case at my Christian college... a school that has had several students go through the Youth With a Mission program.
"Dr." John (snoop!)
