Is Chicago hiding murders to keep down official murder rate?

Why is it only WBBM-TV that is covering this case? The anchor correctly described this as "shocking." Whether it is incompetence or something intentional, it would appear to be newsworthy. I guess that we will see if the Tribune and Sun-Times cover this tomorrow.

"I think it's outrageous. It's dishonest it's deceiving the public," said Mary Powers of Citizens Alert.

Powers says she was shocked by CBS 2's disclosures that some cases are in limbo because of major disputes between the medical examiner's office and the police over how people died.

Take the case of Jeffrey Head found dead in his apartment in 2004.

"His hands was behind his back like this, and a plastic bag over his head," said the victim's brother, Earl Head.

Police officials say they believe Head killed himself attempting a form of sexual gratification.

But in this autopsy report the pathologist documents serious injuries including a fractured windpipe and hemorrhages on both sides of his head, injuries too severe to be self-inflicted.

The pathologist concluded Head died of strangulation and suffocation -- a homicide. It is a conclusion the police dispute.

"It's not right and they aren't doing their job as they should," said Earl Head.

Police officials deny it, saying Head's case and others were correctly classified by detectives as death investigations.

When asked if police carry cases as death investigations to keep the homicide count down, Michael Chasen, Deputy Chief of Detectives, said, "Absolutely not. They never hold a case to eliminate a homicide. We just don't do that." . . .

Ha ha ha, what else did anyone expect out of the Socialist State of Illinois? "Nothing to see here, move along..."

They'll hold a case: as long as they know who the perpetrator is and where he or she is; and then they'll gather enough evidence to bring charges and hold that for the purpose of waiting for gun legislation to be argued in the legislature. And then they'll release it to the press after they make the arrest.

And while they wait, they simply watch the movements of the perpetrator so they know where he is when they finally decide to arrest him.

All of this is similar to the BLT serial killer in Kansas, but the purpose of waiting to arrest was delayed not for gun legislation but to teach citizens, especially vigilantes, that these types are found in neighborhoods (living amongst us). As if everyone is so stupid and unable to deduce such an obvious fact. Police knew the BLT killer, and had the evidence to arrest long before they arrestd him.

WBBM (CBS channel 2) does not come in clear and so few people will watch this broadcast.

If anyone believes the news media would not participate (by questioning police conduct) then consider why the newsmedia seldom reports defensive gun uses (unless it's done by off-duty armed police.)

Government, by it's self-perpetuating nature, is corrupt. Police are government employees; in court they are considered government agents. Police are government; and many or most are liberals who vote for democrats. It is primarily democrats who oppose the 2nd amendment or believe it applies only to each state's right to have a militia. Never trust police.

Because of, and with help from the Fox network police all across America are staking a claim to having the moral high ground. If there were one tv reality show I would want to see removed it is clearly the show COPS. This show is a massive nationwide broadcast that attempts to maintain and improve the image of police - it is the biggest public relations campaign in our history.

Police are always dissappointed at homicides committed without guns. Because those types of crime prove that banning guns does not stop criminals from committing murder.

:-) I liked your comment...but consider Kansas and it's RTC law AND it's new handgun sign to be displayed by business that don't want anyone bringing in their guns. The Red Cross already has ruled to keep guns off their premises.

I boldly urge gunners to consider their donations to the RED Cross.

What should be important to a gun owner, especially a RTC holder is knowing Illinois gun law that prohibit guns, especially in Chicago. And that the trend in Illinois about socialism will find it's way even into the deep south. Some would say people like myself should move out of the state but the trend may follow. What occurs here is important to others who live in other states.

Every key government position, in Illinois, is now held by an anti-gun socialist. The country is steeped in the belief that government should do everything for every American.

"The government that governs most, governs best" [Everyone of you, on your knees, now.]
