Rudy Giuliani’s view on gun control
SayUncle has some interesting information on Rudy Giuliani’s view on gun control. Apparently Giuliani is willing to question the efficacy of the so-called assault weapons ban. Possibly the fact that the law's supporters wrongly predicted what would happen what would happen after September 13, 2004 had an impact on his views.
John, I believe you are too optimistic. Giuliani isn't changing his tune because he realizes the truth about the ineffectiveness of the assault weapon ban. He is changing his tune because he wants his parties nomination.
Sadly, gun control isn't about crime prevention in my opinion, and I believe Giuliani was in favor gun control in the past and he secretly still harbors those opinions.
Amazed how lucky I am that I have had jobs where I could just think about whatever I wanted to think about.
This summer I will be moving to the University of Maryland. Previously I held positions at the University of Chicago, Yale University, Stanford, UCLA, Wharton, and Rice and was the chief economist at the United States Sentencing Commission during 1988 and 1989. I have published over 90 articles in academic journals. I received my Ph.D. in economics from UCLA in 1984.
